Registering an e-commerce platform according to law opens up golden opportunities for businesses to participate in the booming digital economy in Vietnam. The registration process is designed to create favorable conditions for businesses, ensure transparency and efficiency, and enhance business reputation in the online market. The following article by Long Phan will provide detailed instructions on the steps to register for a legal e-commerce platform.
E-commerce platforms play a key role in the development of Vietnam’s digital economy. These platforms create a convenient online trading environment for buyers and sellers.
Through e-commerce platforms, businesses can reach customers nationwide without investing in facilities. This helps reduce operating costs and increase competitiveness. For consumers, e-commerce platforms bring a diversity of products and services and a convenient shopping experience. They can compare prices, evaluate quality and make transactions anytime, anywhere.
However, for sustainable development, e-commerce platforms need to comply with legal regulations on registration and operation. This ensures a healthy business environment and protects consumer rights.
Traders and organizations that want to set up websites providing e-commerce services need to meet the following conditions:
Fully meeting the above conditions not only ensures legality but also demonstrates the business’s ability to operate the e-commerce platform safely and effectively.

Step 1: Businesses need to register an account on the system. Registration information includes business name, business registration number, field of operation, headquarters address and contact information.
Step 2: After registering, within 03 working days, businesses will receive feedback from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. If the information is complete, the business is granted an account to continue the process.
Step 3: Enterprises log in and select the “Register website providing e-commerce services” function. Here, businesses declare information according to the form and attach registration documents.
Step 4: Within 07 working days, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will respond on the completeness and validity of the dossier. If the application meets the requirements, the business will be guided to the next step.
Step 5: The enterprise sends the complete registration dossier (paper copy) to the Department of E-Commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade. This is the final step in the registration process.
