• Self-assessment of the quality of tourist accommodation establishments according to the provisions of national standards on ranking tourist accommodation establishments;
• List of managers and employees in tourist accommodation establishments;
• Certified copies of diplomas, certificates, professional training certificates and certificates of working time in the tourism sector of managers and department heads in tourist accommodation establishments.

Order and procedures for recognition of tourist accommodation class

The order and procedures for recognition of tourist accommodation class are implemented according to the provisions of Clause 5, Article 50 of the Law on Tourism 2017:

Step 1: Submit application

Organizations and individuals doing business in tourist accommodation services submit 01 set of documents to the following agency:

• The General Department of Tourism evaluates and recognizes 4-star and 5-star tourist accommodation establishments;
• Provincial specialized tourism agencies evaluate and recognize 1-star, 2-star and 3-star tourist accommodation establishments.

Step 2: Process documents and decide on recognition

• In case the dossier is invalid, within 03 working days from the date of receiving the dossier, the competent state agency must notify in writing and clearly state the request for amendment and supplementation;
• Within 30 days from the date of receipt of valid dossiers, the competent state agency shall preside over and coordinate with socio-professional tourism organizations to appraise and issue a decision to recognize the class of tourist accommodation establishments; in case of non-recognition, a written notice must be given stating the reasons.

The time limit for deciding on recognition of tourist accommodation class

According to the provisions of Clause 6, Article 50 of the Law on Tourism 2017, it is clearly stipulated on the duration of the decision to recognize the class of tourist accommodation establishment. Accordingly, this decision has a term of 5 years.
